IF I wanted to reformatt xp how can I back up my drivers

I reformatted xp with the recovery disc that came with my computer.  After reinstalling windows I put the drivers and utilities cd in.  So my question is, can I make a list of the drivers I will need to reinstall, or just back up my drivers.  Or burn the specific drivers I need to a cd before install.  You see, I had dell help me over the phone and they just connected to my computer and installed the drivers.  Now I am out of warranty and IF I ever wanted to reformatt, I am lost on this driver thing.  There is a bunch of drivers on the recovey disc I do not need.

Ahem!  Many people would be surprised to find that for whatever software needs you have, there is almost always a free alternative.  And in many cases, the free software is better than the expensive stuff.
