Lol....I'm sure there must be MORE out there! I read a review at Skytopia, comparing iTunes, WinAmp, Mediamonkey, and Media Player. Some of it foreign language to me, but I'm sure the rest of you will understand. They periodically  run a comparison between the top ones, and the one that won it last time is in second place now, due to changes.  From the changes, one wonders if someone from one of those companies read the review.  ;D Not gonna tell you which won!

I use Windows Media Player exclusively for audio and some video, but I don't like watching dvds with it. It doesn't really display dvds correctly...

I actually use WMP for most things, as it's built in, no need to install extra programs.
I do however have VLC installed for the formats WMP can't handle, and Cyberlink PowerDVD for DVDs.
If VLC had a music library function I'd abandon WMP entirely.

??? The Ultimate Troubleshooter (TUT) rates Winamp as dangerous. ????? Any ideas why?

Reviews are often unreliable as they are frequently $$$ driven. Don't trust them. We can recommend many a flavor of media player but in the end it comes down to what you like most. Try a few and see. Uninstalling the ones you don't like is painless ;)

TheUltimateTroubleshooter (TUT) is pretty cool, and they give just so many runs before you have to buy. I like that it rates everything in an easy way, but after seeing the "dangerous" designation on Winamp, I don't know. Maybe someone more savvy than I can break it apart, and see for what aspects a thing is determined dangerous or safe. The advice to try out different Media Players and see which ones I like is one of those ideas that makes me slap my forehead and say, "well....duh!" to myself.  ::) Lol; thank you

I have always run Windows Media Player, and never had any problems. I like it and its reliable. As the others say it comes down to choice.

Probably because WinAmp accesses the Web for updates...
I think i'll pass on TUT.
