when cd inserted xp freezes
« on: February 21, 2005, 07:44:26 PM »
Hi,

I have 3 CD/DVD roms in my computer (pioneer).

If I leave the doors of them closed when windows XP is booting up the screen freezes just as the main windows desktop is coming up.

If I leave the all CD/DVD doors open, windows will boot up normally.

If I then put a CD/DVD into one of the 3 drives it will either work or freeze the desktop screen.

You can imagine that this makes it very difficult to install multi cd software as it will only take the freezing of one disc to screw the intended installation up!!!

I've got a totally up to date computer which I built myself but I have never been able to resolve this problem.

I hope someone can advise and thanks in advance if you can!!!

Why would you need 3 CD DVD drives?  Too many drives tend to cause IRQ conflict, try manually allocate your IRQs
