hard drive crash
« on: June 20, 2008, 02:16:30 PM »
I have an HP a622n.  The HD crashed and I get the meesage 'Disk boot failure.  Insert system disk.' I purchased a new HD, but get the same message. When replacing an ATA drive can the new drive be an EIDE?  Will improperly placed jumpers prevent a hard drive from operating?

Also, when I try pressing F1 to boot into bios all I get is the original error message. What else can I try?

i do hope you are ok.
what to do is to make sure tat your cd room work properly and it is setted in master position.and make sure that the os cd is ok and bootable.

then set your jumper of hdd in master position, after that try t go to bios environment ,find the boot sequence ,then set cd roomto be the first boot device and hdd be the second. and which os are you using if xp-is it sp1 or sp2? late me know am stillon line for 20 from now [email protected]
