iTunes

I was in New York City a few weeks ago and I bought an 80Gb Classic iPod. And I got a $10 gift card with it to spend on the iTunes/Apple online store.

The problem is: when I enter the serial number on the card into iTunes, it tells me it is not valid because the serial number was registered in the US and I am now in Ireland.

Any suggestions as to what I should do?
