    hi buddies,

after editing the environment variables we do have to reboot the system to make changes take effect. Is there any way where  no need of rebooting the system after such changes?

    regards

Environment variables are read during a boot. As far as I know I don't think you can force the machine to read them again without a reboot.

I think he's talking about a way so Windows doesn't need to restart when you install something, for example Microsoft Net Framework needs a restart after installation.

I think I've heard of a way to do that but I will have to find it...

actually i am in doubt that it might be possible by running autoexec.bat each time when environment variable are changed.

I checked Google (link) and found this:

        http://www.autosensing.com/Information/Restart%20Your%20Computer%20Without%20Actually%20Having%20to%20Restart.htm

I'm not sure if this will work or not. It might mess up the computer but the steps sound familiar...

        Anyone else know about this?

Carbon Dudeoxide that will refresh your screen and some of the system but I don't think it will refresh the environment variables. He can try it and see.

By the way these are your environment variables....
