The ~ usually indicates a file path that has been shortened by windows for easier viewing.

For example C:\program files\user\software\abc.exe will be shown in some windows folders as C:\program ~ \abc.exe

Ok, thanks. When I right click to see the properties, there's no info., but I found out it was created in Aug. of 2003. When I open it with Notepad, It's a single line of gibberish. It's 175 kb. How do you find out more info. on files like this? A search gives me no more info, and the file path doesn't go beyond C:\

Can you post a screenshot of the properties window?

How to take a screen shot
        • Open up the properties box.
        • Look on your keyboard and there should be a button (usually in the top right corner) that reads PrtSc or Print Screen, press that button.
        • Once the PrtSc button is pressed, Open up Microsoft Paint.
          • Click Start
          • Click Run
          • Type in MSpaint
          • Press Ok.
        • Once Paint is open
        • On the Menu bar click Edit > Paste
        • On the menu bar click File > Save as...
        • Choose the Save as type click the drop arrow, and choose Jpeg
        • Choose the save to location as the Desktop.
        • The click Save.
        .
Now add it here as an attachment.

:( When I go to "edit", the only thing available to select is "select all" or "paste from", which takes me into my pictures folder.  I don't see screen shot anywhere.

Thank you. I'll try that. I think there may be a problem with mine.

Already have HijackThis. Ran it with create log. Don't see how to post it here. The instructions in how to post doesn't help.

If you think the computer has a virus you need to do the steps and post the logs. http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,46313.0.html

Sorry. I don't see how to get that log off the gray HijackThis window and onto where I can access it to follow those directions. I give up. Thank you for trying.
