DVD Decoder / CD Burning
« on: February 16, 2005, 07:28:09 PM »
Hi,

I recently purchased a secondhand laptop, which has a DVD drive and external CD burner (Benq - 48 x 16 x 48).

When I attempt to play a DVD I get a message saying "Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because a compatible DVD decoder is not installed".

Also, I am new to burning software and am unsure about using the burner. Do I need software such as Nero to burn CD's and does it explain how to do so?

Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Chris.

You need software programs to burn CD's - usually some is bundled with the CD writer such as Nero or easy cd creator - Search your program files to see if you have any CD burning software

You will also need software to view DVD's - that should have automatically started up to play a DVD if it was installed.
