POST startup issue
« on: June 28, 2008, 08:50:16 PM »
Asus/Alife motherboard/CPU thing, Vista.

Computer powers up, fans run, CD tray powers on and can open and close, but no POST beep and nothing runs to the monitor. Stepdad claims he can't hear the Disk drive accessing.

So, any ideas, hopefully nothing that'll cost me a week and 50$ to repair?

It looks like RAM problem. Run Memtest: http://www.memtest86.com/

In addition to running a memory test, if you're confident enough in your abilities, open the side panel and check all of your connections. Remove and reseat all of your compenents to make sure they're getting a good connection to the motherboard.
