FLAC files

Hi, guys

For the benefit of a novice  can someone please tell me how I convert FLAC files to something my computer wil play? When I try it doesn't seem to like them.

Are there any free sites that offer a conversion fix - if that's the right phrase?

Any help gratefully received.
