    Computer mouse sets off alarm
    « on: July 06, 2008, 10:55:25 PM »
I have a Sony Vaio computer, and I love it....but for some reason there is an alarm that has started going off everytime the mouse is clicked too many times in a row. It's almost as if it's some kind of an overload alarm...does anyone know what it is and how I can turn it off??? It was never on here before, until a few months ago, and now I can't do anything like play games or do anything on paint and such without it going off. Then I have to restart my computer to turn it off. What is it and how do I get rid of it????????

it mostly goes off if i'm doing something in my paint program like drawing or painting. also any kind of games set it off, if something is done consistantly. it's almost as if the computer suddenly gets overloaded or something....then the alarm goes off. it was never on here before, so I don't know where it came from.

Is there a "sticky keys" prompt for the mouse clicks as well as key clicks?

I don't know, if it's connected to setting off alarm, but your computer is infected.
There is no antivirus program running. Why?
I can see one Norton leftover. Was it installed on your computer before?

there was an anti virus program running....i don't know what happened to it! i had used Norton a long time ago, but it made my computer run too slow. i thought i had gotten rid of it. what anti virus program would you suggest i run? it needs to be something i can download for free, if there is a good one.....

Download, and install ONE of two:
                - Avira free antivirus: http://www.free-av.com/en/download/index.html
                - Avast! free antivirus: http://filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus/
After downloading, update, and run full scan.

When done get Norton Removal Tool: http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039

When done, post new HJT log.
