    I'm not sure but some laptops have a feature (a button) that disables the touch pad. Do you think this may be the case here?

      I'm out of ideas other than, as previously suggested, pursue with OEM.

      Ya, mine has that feature. I turn it off when I'm playing games and using a mouse (in case I hit off it and shoot someone!). I have an "FN" button beside the Windows Start button, and when I press it, a menu comes down at the top of the screen. Here I can disable and enable the touchpad. Its a Toshiba Satellite.

        No, I don't think so, since sometimes the Touchpad works and sometimes it doesn't, and I didn't press any button at all...

          Is the laptop under warranty?

          Suggest that you get help from Lenovo and RMA laptop, if possible,
          If you don't have time to do it right
                          ...when will you have time to do it over?
