    Backlight help
    « on: July 31, 2008, 11:21:22 AM »
I replaced a backlight and it worked good. 3 days later  it went out again. So I'm trying to fix it again.  The solder joints still looked good. I re-soldered each and it still won't come on. It appears the bulb has burned out again. Could something be causing it to burn out?

This backlight went out about 4 years ago and it was replaced under warranty.

I'm thinking it might be the inverter. Could that be burning out the bulb?  Can I check the voltage of the inverter with a multimeter? Is there any way to find out if this is the problem?

I know I'm going to have to replace the backlight again, but should I also replace the inverter?  I don't want to burn out another one.

This is a Sony Vaio PCG-GRT170

Not an expert here but it could in fact be the inverter.

Is the laptop not under warranty anymore?
