*censored*, this continual rain in florida, the other day i was taking my laptop out the car in the flippin rain and trying to hold the umbrella, and my sony vaio slipped out my hands onto the road into the water, i am devasted, anyhow its kind of messed on the top, but as i put it on it showed a slight water mark in the right hand corner, and just lines, so i put it on its side as to let the water run out, and left it that way, the next day i switched it on, and its what i am using now, the cam works, and all appears ok, the only thing is the thin red line down the middle, i did call sony as i wanted to send it in, and they gave me 3 options at 3 different rates, from Indionesia, the first just a normal service, $99, then another as an overall of $699, then the last being $899 because she said the the red means the LCD is damged and with continual use its gonna get worse, now is this all true, and i want to fix it all but i am not sure what to fix, can anyone advise

Bad luck - but perhaps not as bad as it might have been.

The Sony diagnosis is probably correct but heck - they want some money to work on it huh!!!  Major cost.

I really think I'd soldier on using it and even if it does worsen over time - start saving and put money aside for an eventual new machine.  If possible get - if you haven't already got - an external drive and back up all important data on an external drive...  or at very least keep your stuff on a large USB stick.

Bottom line - no fix you can do I fear.

I agree. If you can't get hold of another LCD screen for the laptop, you will have to send it in.

    Is it not under Warranty?

There's a place out here that would fix it for $50, but you'd be without your laptop for a few weeks.  Heh.  I don't know what the market is like where you live, but you should call around and see what kinds of prices you can find.
