check out you TV card by buyer.

There is no need to do that yet - that's what this forum is for.
      And what's with the signature?

What model is the video card?

        Hi and tnx for reply.
When i click on help of the avermedia tv series it says

        Microsoft Windows help
        Version Information 5.1.2600.5512
         Avermedia Technologies Inc.

I amnot sure if it is the model of the card or the windows itself ?

Here is something I found in the help of my card. does it mean anything abouty my problem ?

        Display surface mode select

By default, the AVerMedia TV Tuner card will take advantage of "overlay surface" support if the graphic controller driver supplies a DirectX 8 interface. Under this mode, you will be able to view live TV broadcasts on your computer screen.
Sometimes, the user may need to force the AVerMediaTV Tuner card to use the mode of operation of the VGA card, which is known as "
primary surface" mode.  Forcing the card to operate in this mode can be helpful in eliminating VGA card compatibility problems.

        Thanks again

        Avi

What Operating System was the other computer, you mentioned in the first post?

Download the correct driver from the link below.... If you don't know which one, get back to me.
            http://www.driverskit.net/Video_Card/AverMedia.html
            Don't install it yet, however.

Is the video card mentioned in the Device Manager? I think it should be under "Display adapters".
If it is there, uninstall it.

Next, go to the file you downloaded, and install the driver. Do this also if you can't find the name of the video card in the device manager.

Now try recording some TV again....

            Does this help?

Operation system on old puter was windows xp professional but i think it has sp2 while here i have sp3.

              Antivirus was the same nod32.

I don't see the video card mentioned in the Device Manager as you can see in the attached pic but it is there within "sound video and game controllers"

I'll continue with it tomorrow when son inlaw here he knows much better then me about puters u see i am 75 and he is 35 lol

              Mean time tnx again.

              Sincerely your

              Avi

              Okay,

              I'll be waiting....! ;D

              I think it's probably a driver issue.

               ;)

now that u mention it i think that my card doesn't have an extra conection for fm plug. i dont remember where but i saw a picture of two the outside pannels of the cards where all the connection are attatched and in one there were 4 sockets one of then indicated FM and the other had only three and this is my card so probebly the AverTV studio 4.31 sp1 is no good for me ?

                    Tnx
