mics wont work in vista

 i have been trying to get both my desktop and headset mic to work on vista. i have pluged them in to every port on my pc. there is no sound coming from the mics or very little that u cant understand. i even have put the mic volume and mic boost up and nothing. i have updated all the drivers as well. im at my wits end. i can attach a everest report to email see what the problem might be

yep i have plugged both em into every port on the pc like i mentioned in the post. would there be any software etc that could help me with this

im not recording with these mics i use em online. with programs like paltalk yahoo aim etc

what brand of mic you are using? I had 2 mics sitting at home, I tested both in vista one day and both worked. I plugged it in and it worked correctly. And I am using vista too.

There is sound from your computer? Like when playing music on Windows Media Player or something?

You made sure, microphone is not muted?

i made sure mic is not muted and i can hear sound just fine coming out the puter. my headset mic is a radio shack brand. the desktop is a labtec brand and no software came with either.

Did you try right clicking your volume control and selecting recording devices? You can set up the recording levels there.

yep i tried that too. ive check every volume setting etc that anyone could think of. maybe i can email a everestt reprt or try to post it. then folks probaly could figure out whats wrong

However, First I would check Device Manager.

Go to Start --> Run --> Type devmgmt.msc and press Enter.
In Device Manager, look for any Yellow Exclamation Marks and post back.

aint any yellow markings of any kind that i could see and i checked everywhere

ok folks is there any help yall could give me on this matter. i have looked everywhere and asked on several chat rooms. nobody knows how to help in this matter. im getting really frustrated and pissed. you can contact me other was just refer to my profile.
