Hi members! My CD was crash into pieces inside the CD-ROM drive during installation. I put it properly inside the CD-ROM and I installed properly the 1st application. During the installation of the 2nd application (same CD), the CD was crash. What do you think is the cause?

This used to happen a lot once CD drives started hitting speeds of up to 52x. At those speeds, the disc is doing around 10,000 rpm and a badly made one can shatter, often destroying the drive.

Happened to me a long time ago when playing Red Alert 2.

The disc 'blew up' inside the CD Drive and I needed to replace it.

Lol, put tape over it like crisscrossing or something.

However, I don't think it is a problem you should worry about, Wefr0.

You will make the weight distribution uneven and it will break apart faster.

Er - they rotate. Have you never seen a diagram or video explaining how CDs work? How did you think they worked? All computer disks rotate! I can't believe you didn't know this. It's only the odd rogue disk that disintegrates, so I shouldn't worry. Although it's a good reason to back up important CDs and DVDs that you can't replace.
