    Download speed
    « on: August 20, 2008, 01:08:04 PM »
I have notice that my download speed has dropped Drastically the past few weeks, I have deffraged, and cleaned my system with CC Cleaner and Glary utilities. Ran virus scans with Avira and spyware scans with superantispyware and malwarebytes. No luck, I have 4GB of ram, And a seagate 500GB hardrive.  I have DSL, with the  second to the highest speed. How can I speed up my download time?

This may just be due to high traffic using the bandwidth from your ISP. Remember, the speed will be "up to..." whatever your connection speed is.

What have you been doing on the internet?

Also, any downloads or installs before this happened?

Visit http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest and run a speed test.  Repeat it a few times throughout the day, and perhaps on multiple days, to see whether you get consistent results or widely varying results.  How do the test results compare to what your ISP rates your service at?

    Run the Tweaks test also.
