    CF-41 Toughbook
    « on: August 21, 2008, 06:05:04 AM »
I'm trying to restore a Panasonic CF-41, I have a repair disc for it but it won't open on my other machine.

The CF came with a Windows 95 disc in the drawer, but that's not functioning.
I have tried the repair disc in my machine, (XP) but it won't open.

I know it's old, but I thought I'd give it a go to restore it.

Hope someone out there can help, it would be apreciated.
    Regards.
    Fred.

Let me get this straight...your computer has Windows 95 and you're trying to reformat it with an XP CD from another computer?

If that's the case...first of all, it is quite common for you to not be able to use the Windows CD from one computer on another computer.  Many of them are brand-specific.  You probably need an original XP CD.

Second...I don't know how old these computers are, but it might not be able to handle XP.  What are the computer's specs?

NO....I didn't try what you said, if you read my post you will see that I obtained a Manual & Repair disc, and tried to open it on my machine, so that I could find out a bit about the insides of the CF-41, but the Manual disc won't open on my machine.

I know that this is an obsolete model, but I thought I would just try to restore it, if it can't be done then Ok.  ...no sleep lost.

How exactly are you trying to open this CD ? ?

Have you tried Explorer ? ?

Many thanks Patio for your reply, but I managed to get it open.
The trouble now is that it's the wrong manual, it's a user manual and I needed one to strip down the machine.
It looks as if it would be too expensive to restore , it needs a HD, and possibly a Disc Drive.
it's a pity, as it's in very good condition for it's age.
        Once again, thanks.
        Regards.
