In the BIOS somewhere, is a option titled along the lines of "Enable USB Legacy Devices" Legacy meaning in this case, Mice and Keyboards to be used in the BIOS and before you hit windows with its own USB drivers.

Worked for me before, Give it a shot.

How will that help this person? When his problem is with a PS/2 keyboard?

I saw a keyboard and mouse combo at a department store the other day for ten bucks.
Seems like the easiest way to solve this problem.
