Do you mean that you have a hard drive with more than one partition?

    What do you mean?

What is the current C drive capacity?

What about any other drives (partitions)?

EDIT: you posted before me, JJ3000  :-X

its all 1 drive. 500 gb, i only had a xp sp1 installer which only allows 170gb for C.

i have formatted the drives with out assigning paths. because i want to have all 500gb's on one partition. i actually unformatted all except for c. and now i have 300+gb of unallocated.

Go into computer management and select disk management near the bottom.
Now you should be able to see your hard drives layout.
You said you had unallocated space there.
Right click the unallocated space and select New Volume.
You will see a series of screens that prompt you on size and file system to use. Choose NTFS

Why do you need the entire 500 gigs as a single partition?

Lots of people partition there hard drives and use one drive for programs and another for videos and another for music and another for whatever they wish to put there.

Before spending money on partition magic play around with the two you have now. Put programs on your C drive and data on your G. You might grow to like it.

i the past i had a c drive and a D drive for a long time. i just didnt like the way it felt. i constantly filled up 1 drive and had to move stuff around. and i just really didnt like it. some how i had one drive with 250 and another drive with 250. not sure how i managed that... my main reason for not liking that whole set up is because i have alot of apps... they take up more then 170gb or 250, i'd like it to all appear in program files, is there a way that i can link programs from a D drive to a C drive?

If you have all of your data backed up and are ready to reinstall all of your programs then you could do a clean install of XP.

From what  you are saying it sounds like it would be very time consuming to reinstall all of those programs :'(

That is the only way I know of to format the C drive in XP.
Partition magic may be your best bet to resize it without disturbing your data.

I'm not sure (which is why I have not replied yet) but Partition Magic has been recommended many times here in the forums.
