    You'll need a server with PHP and a MySQL database to run a login script. The shopping cart also, for that matter.

        Ahh....? No, you wouldn't need a constant direct connection. If the web host package includes a (few?) MySQL databases, then you can run a (proper) login script.

        You can do it using PHP sessions, but they're not very efficient.

              If you've got all that extra time, check out a book from your college library about php/mysql and learn how to do the coding yourself. php isn't that difficult to learn, especially if you already have some html experience.
