Problem With Internet Connection.

Hey all, just wondering if I could get some help.

I have a SpeedStream 4200 Modem. My ADSL internet has been working fine for 3+ years up until two days ago.

The internet just drops out after a few minutes of being connected.

Turning the modem off and back on lets me get back on the internet however this only lasts for a few minutes and dies out again as mentioned above.

I have tried new cables with no success. Could it just be that I need a new modem? or is it another problem.

Has anyone experienced this issue before or know how to resolve it? Thank you very much if anyone is able to help me! (I have called techsupport from my ISP also but they could not help.)

Firstly, try a System Restore to about five days ago.

If that doesn't work, answer the following questions;

What Operating System is this?
What did you do before the problem? (downloads, installs, hardware changes, ect....)
Are you on Wireless or Internet Cable?

Cheers, just tried the system restore but no luck

Im running Windows XP SP2
Im on normal internet cable not wireless
and haven't changed anything at all with the hardware or new program installs for a few weeks, I was just browsing the net when it dropped out for the first time a couple of days ago

Try unplugging the power for both the Router and Modem for 40 seconds and then see what happens.

When the internet disconnects, does it reconnect automatically?

Anyone else having the problem?

What about wireless?

Tried that still no luck

When the internet disconnects it tries to reconnect but it doesn't work, only way to get the internet working seems to be turning the modem off and on again
