cant get into anything

I have been given a computer which was working before it was moved. When i switch it on i get no signal, then it wont switch off, if i press and hold power button it goes off.
I switch it on and it goes to tech menu, then it says 'we apologise for the inconvenience but windows did not start successfully a recent hardware or software change might have caused this. This is the screen i get;
Safe mode
Safe mode with networking
Safe mode with command prompt
Last known good configuration
Start windows normally - if i do this it counts down from 23 to 0 and then the keyboard locks up
Switches off normally then goes back to beginning.
It has windows xp on it

Moved from where to where?
No signal as in internet or monitor?

After you answer those two questions, I would highlight Last Known Good Configuration (with the arrow keys on the keyboard) and press Enter.

Thank you for that,have tried that still doesnt work. It was moved from a friends house to my house. It isnt connected to the internet. So assume it meant monitor but then i do get the screen with the info on it (tech menu).

Open a side Panel.
Remove all power sources.
Ground yourself by touching the case.
Carefully remove and reseat the RAM and any addon cards such as video; sound etc.

Double check all hard drive connectors.
Replace the power and re-boot and see if this helps.

Thank you for that idea, have done all of that and still the same! Still getting the same screen, anymore ideas?
