cd rom has died can i use an external dvd writer instead

I suggest going to the Samsung website and looking for the exact model of the CD Drive and locating the driver.
Download it, and reinstall it.

If this is a pre-built computer, you should be able to go to the computer manufacturers website, locating your computer model, and downloading the appropriate drivers.

bought a new external dvd writer as i thought it would combat the problem but shows the same error on that
