    Problems with Nero
    « on: September 05, 2008, 12:32:43 PM »
When using Nero to make a compilation CD the tracks I use from my hard drive play fine, but the tracks I have pulled from CDs (both purchased & copied) play as a quite rapid (every half second or so) series of clicks. The pitch of the clicks varies from track to track.
Haven't burnt a CD for a while prior to this, but never had the problem (which arises from both CD & DVD drives) before.
If anyone can help please couch advice in as simple terms as possible.

    thanks in anticipation

Can you try the CD on another computer?

If the other computer has trouble with it as well, try burning the songs on another CD and see if it sounds better (maybe the cd is damaged)

CDs play fine on my CD player.
This will seem strange, but because I HAD to burn a CD, I got the tracks in question onto my hard drive via the Sony CD-RW and Sony's Sonic Stage software (as MP3 files). Nero then burnt a playable standard CD of them. Obviously I'd prefer not to have to go through that palaver every time!

Have just tried again with a CD which plays fine. Nero appears to "add" the tracks to the "my audio CD" window, but when I press "play" on the same window it comes out as clicks like the CD did.

What about if you play them with Windows Media Player?

I'm using Nero 6 & I'm convinced problem is with that, not the CDs I'm trying to rip from

I never used Nero for this same reason. Never believed it could be a good program. I have started to use Nero 6 ultra a short while back and must say the have ironed out some of here known problems with Microsoft Windows.

Have you tried burning with Microsoft media player?
Perhaps a re install of Nero or a newer version will do the trick. One question. Where did you get the Nero software? Was it part of the cd-dvd package or not?

First of all...did you read the previous posts?  Other media players were already suggested...including Windows Media player.

Let's see if the updates help, first.  I'm convinced it is the software, as well.  But his issue is with Nero 6.  So, let's try to fix Nero 6...shall we?
