Vista no shortcut

When I right-click on my desktop and try to create a shortcut it won't do anything. I tried watching the processes and there doesn't seem to be anything going on. Can someone please help me out.

I don't leave my computer on all the time and it's restore point is after I noticed the problem. I'm running Vista 32 and don't have a Vista CD to reinstall from. I ran some malware removal tools a week ago and was searching for some registry boosts. I don't remember changing anything with the right-click menus.

Did you modify the registry in any way?

Yes, several ways. I can't even remember the ways that I changed somethings. Here are some that I can remember:

I strongly suggest you undo the changes you did from the registry.....at least for now to see if this is the problem or not.

I thought about that the moment I posted the last reply and tried it. The changes that I can remember and return to normal have had no effect on the problem. I've been trying to figure out what folders to search through to see if I did something I didn't realize I did.

Does right click menu appears, or not at all?
Does other right click menu features function?
Can you perform right click actions anywhere else, but desktop?

Right-click works everywhere even the other options on the desktop just not the Shortcut option.

Download following registry fix to your desktop, and double click on it. Accept registry merge.

Restart computer.
