    Web Content Viewing Problem
    « on: September 07, 2008, 10:43:19 AM »
    Hi

I would appreciate some help with a problem viewing certain kinds of web content.

Example webpages are the BestBuy flyers.  http://bestbuy.dailyshopper.com/bestbuy/default.aspx?action=entryflash&site=bestbuy.dailyshopper.com

You’re initially presented with a thumbnail, that enlarges when you roll over it with your mouse.  When you click on it, its supposed to unfold into a representation of an opened brochure.  When I click on it, it momentarily shrinks back into the thumbnail size, then enlarges back to its mouseover size, but does not open.

I’ve gone to Adobe and downloaded the latest versions of Flash and Shockwave.  I’ve tried opening the site with IE, FireFox , Safari, Opera and Chrome.  I’ve disabled McAfee anti-virus and firewall.  I’ve disabled the Google toolbar pop-up blocker.  Nada.

    I’m running XP Home, SP3, and Version 5.1.2600 on a box that has a 1.8 G P4 with 2 G RAM.

    Thanks.

Have you disabled your browser's pop-up blocker, as well?

BTW...it must be a site issue...since it does the same for me, as well.

I've either disabled the browser's blocker or (in the case of FireFox) granted allowance for the specific site.

        Can't be a site issue;

Opens on my housemate's PC without problems at the same time it won't display for me.

The page doesn't even want to fully load for me (FF).

Same here, using IE 7 with Vista Home Premium. Must be a site issue.

        Well...

I've tried it with both FF3 and IE7...still no go.

...same here on FF, and in IE tab.

Housemate just got home so tried it again on his.

              Loads fine.

              On mine...

              Nada.

Embarrassing, because I always chide him about not keeping AV up to date, no spyware scanner, doesn't do Windows Update, etc.  He's now ROFLHAO.
