programs that want to autoload on startup

There are a few programs on my computer that I dont want to automatically load on start up.  I have done the msconfig thing and removed the entries for those programs but they still load on start up.  One such program is hotmail messenger.  How do I get it to stop?  Where else are the start up entries listed?

You may find the easiest way is RegCure - or an oldie  ...... RegCleaner. 

Both will allow turning off some start items at registry level - and saves you having to dig in registry directly.  Also give you an option to turn back on if need be.
