    Advice about replacing fan requested
    « on: September 15, 2008, 03:34:29 AM »
The noise of the fan on my PC has always annoyed me and I would like to replace it with a quieter version.

What should I take note of before getting a replacement - Device Manager describes it only as "ACPI Fan".  I've not yet looked in the CPU case at the fan and I thought I had better get some advice about how to proceed.

I have Windows XP SP3 - AMD Sempron 2800+ processor

We will need to know which fan it is you want to replace... eg Case  CPU PSU Hard disk, to determin which fan to recommend you look for.
It takes 15 years to become an overnight success & Windows 10 will add another 10 years to it.

Probably your best bet is to remove it and take it with you so the store can match it up properly...
Make sure to make notes of it's orientation and wiring beforehand.
