i love golden sun game they are highly addictive and a great game if you wanna get into something light. but im going to have to say Oblivion is my favorite RPG because there is no limit to what you can do.

fallout 3 is good but its really disappointing in the fact that you can only reach level 20. but the quests are cool and going crazy in megaton is too funny

1. Divine Divinity. Amazing RPG and has a stunning storyline. Graphics are fantastic. It's 2D but I LOVE it. It's from my country (Belgium) and not well known in others, but I love it.
2. Beyond Divinity. The continuation of Divine Divinity with again an amazing storyline. Graphics got even better (some worse imo) and there are more ways to play, more spells, more weapons, more quests, more special races etc.
3. Will probally be Divine Divinity II (which will come out soon). This will be in 3D and even better then the other 2
4. Baldur's Gates. I haven't finished the first one, the second one (CD) doesn't want to be read (guess an error, while it isn't second hand and new...) but I like it. It's very confusing when you are used to the ways of Divine Divinity etc, but I guess I'll get used to it.
5. Pff what have we got left? Warcraft III + expansion campaign is a bit like RPG, but It's not that good.
I tried Diablo II but it's so boring and the graphics sucks that I quit. guess Diablo III will be better.

So that's a bit of my opinion.

Hmmm, I love those old one's like the YS series, Phantasy Star 1 and 4 were amazing.. Ultima 4 had a superb storyline and noble feel to it.  But....

Darksun: Shattered Lands had to be one of the most entertaining rpg's I've ever played.  The storyline was great and there were so many subplots you could do but you didn't have to to finish the game - very open ended and very fun.

Otherwise... Star Control 2 for similar reasons.  Granted it's an action RPG but I loved the open ended gameplay.  If you played the sub quests and succeeded it gave you more time to complete the game.. but if you were really good and knew what you were doing you could skip all the sub quests if you wanted and finish the game in no time.  Very high re-playability.  Conversations with the alien races were hysterical.

Final Fantasy But there really long.  the newer ones have alot of good art detail and storey line.

The best RPG of all time is Final Fantasy 7.  Hands down.  The storyline is deep, the music really controls the mood of the game, the graphics are decent, the dialogue is interesting to read, and the gameplay is very fun.

id definitely say this is very true, my favorite RPG of all time is FF7, i mean everyone feels it when aerith dies,no matter how many times you play.

I don't know what genre LoZ is, because I haven't played it, but I can say this: An RPG is any game with "stats", "levels", weapons with numbered bonuses on them, things like that.

technically you do collect a certian stat. hearts are links stat. the life stat is one quality that i find, linking it to a RPG
AND your sword upgrades
