his problem was already solved in a much more efficient manner...

That's good, I was just giving another solution so that if original poster likes it, he can use it if he is interested.

    Open Windows Explorer.
    Browse to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\et...
    Find the file named "HOSTS".
    Open the file in notepad.
Under "127.0.0.1 localhost" add 127.0.0.2 www.name_of_the_site_to block.com. So, if you'd like to block www.facebook.com, the code will look like this:
    127.0.0.1 localhost
    127.0.0.1 www.facebook.com

HA,  this has worked till now, the *censored* log on via facebook france
    http://fr-fr.facebook.com/

I'm gonna block this but i bet theres hundreds of other domain names (portugal, spain etc)
Anyone know where i can get all these..

Also, is there a general way to block proxy servers

Would it be worthwhile buying an internet security program of some kind?

    Y so rude.

You have a strange definition of rude.

I was stating a fact. OpenDNS requires configuration changes on the PC; or, at least, configuration changes can be made to a single PC to use a different DNS and essentially workaround any content restrictions that OpenDNS would enforce.

It makes a great DNS if your ISP has a terrible one (like mine does)
I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

Problem is when employees are experienced computer users an they find a way to circumvent protection. I had this problem in my company and i had to by a security program. I use application called FB limiter(www.facebooklimiter.com) and I am satisfied.

I think it maybe that you might need to use some add-ons in your computer. You can install it so that your staff knows the aspect of the blocking of sites. It was a block site 1.0 and I've use it before.

I performed a similar lockdown for facebook, and chat applications. The funny thing is that the users found other methods to waste company time by texting etc with their portable devices. And facebook has apps for these portable iphones etc!!! Unless we can build a faraday cage around the building to block the 4G wireless/cell service or threaten the empoyees who are caught using these devices they are winning and will continue to do this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faraday_cage
