From XP home to Xp PRO?
    « on: September 20, 2008, 03:39:03 PM »
Ok so i have a gateway 505gr with Xp home. I contacted Gateway and asked them if xp pro will work on it. They said no since they never tested on it. They said if you wanna try than heres the mother board type "Intel (Augsburg)". I was wondering if anyone can find me the drivers because i cant. And if you were in my place would you keep xp home or put on xp pro? Thanks. Need answer ASAP  ???

why do you need pro? theres really not any difference between the two also the drivers will work just fine as long as the windows xp pro is not 64bit

Home and Professional are almost identical except their prices. I would keep Home.

    I don't understand...what troubles are you having ? ?
I don't assist thru PM's because solving it here may benefit someone else with the same issues...
Post your troubles and we'll go from there.
I's best to start a brand new Topic so it can recieve the proper attention...

I think it's a case of XP pro envy, regardless of the fact that home is really all that is needed.

jhb1, what specifically on the list of difference do you need?

woops. even with the "topic Starter" on the appropriate posts, I miss it completely.

In retrospect I imagine it's the same with both- they simply want Pro for the "bragging rights", or so it would seem.

One has Pro already and wants Home so go figure.... ::)
I just think it's a broad statement that may not apply in all cases that's all....

I really need to start reading posts more thoroughly. I read it backwards... darn thread hijackers, always confusing me.

I have no idea what you're trying to say here but if you're suggesting you will distribute XP Pro WE DON'T DO THAT HERE...
