Problems with Screen resolution in XP
« on: September 21, 2008, 10:40:52 AM »

This same problem that was posted over a year ago:

http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000191.htm

http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php?topic=37755.0

PLEASE READ LINKS ABOVE - I AM HAVING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM BUT THE SOLUTIONS GIVEN ARE NOT WORKING.

I have a DELL Dimension 4600.
Its is 4 years old and I have never had this problem before but I haven't used this computer in over a year.

The monitor has been used with 2 other computers and functions fine.
NOTHING HAS CHANGED ON THIS COMPUTER EXCEPT the same OS (XP) from the factory was reinstalled. ALL hardware and software is exactly the same as what orginally came with the computer and functioned properly for 4 years.
The other day I broke it out and reinstalled the OS.
Ever since then I am having this problem, the screen resolution is completely wonked!

I have already tried to change all the display settings AND every CD that came with the computer AND I downloaded BIOS drivers from the Dell website.

I have tried EVERYTHING, every suggestion that I can find and nothing makes any difference. I even ended up having to reinstall the OS AGAIN because I screwed it up trying to fix this problem.

I can't install my printer either (because of the screen resolution). This is such a stupid problem and its totally frustrating!

Please help!

???

First of all, there's no need to use profanity within your posts...

Next...what is the problem with the display?  You weren't specific.  We don't even know what operating system you have installed...or what the make and model of your video card is.

Also, you ended referring to not being able to install your printer.

So which is it, your display, or your printer?

What's this supposed to accomplish ? ?
You have issues with your machine...
You have stated the previous posts didn't help...
Now you're referring us to our own Knowledge Base articles and a previous thread that didn't help you.

Good now you understand that PC issues although similar are never the same...with me so far ? ?
Tell us what you have tried so far and DLoad and install Everest Home to run a report on your hardware...save it to a text file and copy and paste the Computer Summary portion here so we know what we're dealing with.

And lose the attitude.

This is a Help Forum...Sylvia the phsycic is on Holiday and the more info you can provide the faster a solution will be reached.

yeh thanks,

I got help from someone who isn't an arrogant, pretentious JERK, like YOU ARE.

Why don't you go waste someone else's time.

(but honestly I would rather PAY someone to fix it then deal with your CRAP)  ;)
