    Telnet help
    « on: October 11, 2008, 06:28:51 PM »
I am trying to use Telenet from my Command Prompt to get my e mail.

I know I know I don't have to I am just trying it out for fun and need some help.

When I am at my Command Prompt I type   TELNET VERIZON.COM 110
    It then says conation faild.

I have Verizon and I have another e mail account from them called   Netmail.verizon.net  and I tryed this one  and I tryed  .COM  to see if that makes a diferance.

    It did not.
If I go on the net my self I go to   netmail.verizon.net   so why is it not finding it?

Why are you trying to Telnet into Verizon?
Verizon doesnt support Telnet last time I checked.

      Yup, pretty sure.

You have to purposely set up a Telnet server to receive Telent requests.

Telnet is very outdated and seldom used, it poses many security problems as well.

      SSH is the norm now.
