OpenOffice.org still has 2.4.1 listed as its latest stable release and Open Office 3 is shown as release candidate 4.  The news section of OpenOffice.org shows that Open Office 3 will be released on October 13.

I wonder where FileForum found the final release.

That's correct, but if you Google it, there are quiet a few legit sites, which offer final version already.

Okay.  I am always cautious about early releases because I have dial-up and have wasted a lot of time downloading false final releases.

I installed it today on my computer, and it works fine.
