Hard Drive Help

 I was custom building my own computer for the first time. I purchased an ABIT KV7-V motherboard and an AMD 2300+ CPU. I purchased an Hitachi Sata 40gb Hard Drive. When I was puting my computer together my friend said that I can only use my HD as a slave hard drive with my motherboard. I am a little short on money hoping that there is some other way to work this out. Thank you very much.

Bigtg87....Does your MOBO support SATA ? If it does , I see no reason why it wouldnt work .......
Why does you friend say it wont work .......?

My MoBo only supports SATA Raid will that still work. Thank You For Your help.

He's full of it.    You can connect a standard SATA or IDE drive to that MB and boot from it.  You don't need to have a RAID array, you can also run a single SATA drive.
