I have Vista Home with Kaspersky security.  We used to get automatic Microsoft updates, then it stopped.  Also I had a subscription to BigFishGames with no trouble with downloads.  All of a sudden the automatic updates would not download.  Then several months later the downloads from BFG produced a DOWNLOAD ERROR message.  We tried whitelisting BFG to no avail.  Have tried browser settings and firewall.  Nothing helped.  We did receive 1 automatic update from Microsoft then they stopped again.  What is going on?  Would it be of any help to change security to Norton 360 V 2009?  Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated.

NO! This is like killing your own computer.
Kaspersky is one of the best out there in the field of antivirus.

Anyways, What Operating System is this?
When you try to download the updates, what is the EXACT error message?

Sorry.  Sent Email as I couldn't figure out how to get back to this page.  Anyway.HP Vista Home Basic Version 6.0 (build 6001: Service Pack 1. 1GB RAM, CPU AMD AthlonDual Core Proc 3800 + 2GHz, 32 Bit.
When we try to run Windows updates error message is ERROR CODE 80244019.  First occurred 19 Dec.  I know this is a long time, but I just found out from my husband how long it has been.  On Big Fish Games download problem started 21 September this year.  We received 1 Windows update (the second one produced an error message) on 21 September then I couldn't download from BFG and no more from Windows.  We can't update Windows defender either (only 1 update 21 September) then nothing again.

Thanks will have husband try this.  No one has been able to offer suggestions why downloads from Big Fish Games have suddenly stopped and what to do about it.

Does this only happen on this site?

As there are many sites offering free downloads, I haven't tried a lot of them.  The ones I have tried work as long as it isn't an offering from Big Fish.

The site is BIGFISHGAMES.com or my husband says you can use BFG.com.

Received msg (finally) from BigFishGames.  They said they updated game manager and a "few" customers had download problems.  (Judging from chat more than a few had problems.)  However, am working with them to solve problem.  Going to try Broni's suggestion on windows updates today.  Will let you know, and thanks for trying to help.  It's good to know someone cares.

No luck with Broni's suggestion.  Would buying and installing Uniblue's Registry Booster be of any help with either Microsoft downloads or Big Fish Games.  An willing to try about anything at this point.

Tip: Don't download any registry or computer cleaner that wants you to pay anything.
They are usually a scam and/or they don't do anything.

Did you manage to use Windows Update? Was it a success?

Having problems with Windows downloads and defender updates (since last December).  Big Fish games problems started in September this year.

Sent message through customer service at Microsoft and they said to contact Germany as a difference in programming.  Must have husband send this as my German isn't so good.

BFG said installed new games manager and since then can't download.  However, I tried to download a BigFishGame from  fenomen.com and it downloaded without any problems.

About ready to thrów out the computer.

Are there any Registry Boosters that you can buy (not Download) that are worth the money?  Something is rotten in Denmark and I am at wits end.

As for Windows updates, you can't download them, or you can't install them?
                      Can you download anything?
What security programs (antivirus, firewall) are you using?

I am afraid there are no such things as Registry Boosters. Do not purchase anything online that claims they can speed up your computer.  ;)

                        Broni -
We have Kaspersky 2009, firewall thru Windows Vista and Kaspersky.  We can't download Windows updates or defender updates.  I can download games from other game sites.  I can download trial games from www.fenomen.com that has Big Fish Games but not from Big Fish itself.  The Windows problem stated last December, but the Big Fish Games  problem started in September.  BFG said they installed a new games manager and some customers are having trouble.  This was just at the time that we were able to download the only Windows update since last December-

Tried to save a Hijack This file and can't understand how to do it.  It runs, but no instruction as how to save or download.    Had this problem when you all suggested this before)  The Big Fish site is now up and running.  Still no luck with Microsoft updates.  We are dealing weekly with their tech support here in Germany, but so far no luck.  Newest hickup is we transferred all our games to external hard drive.  Only some games from BF play from the EHD.  If the file says LAUNCHER it will play.  If it says LAUNCH, it doesn't play.  Also, When we insert a disc in TSSTcorpCD/DVDW TS-H652M ATA Device it doesn't automatically start.  We once ran regedit for drivers problems and it solved the problem.  Now when we try it, we have no "lowerfilter" option anymore.  (It said to delete lowerfilter the first time and now it isn't there. )
Soooooooooooooooo, the directions don't work this time.

Open HJT, and look below images for instructions.

                              Click on Scan button.
When scanning is done, Scan button changes to Save log button.

Note where file will be saved. In my example, log will be saved to C:\Temp directory.
                              Click Save button.
                              Save window will close.
                              Notepad will open. Close it.

                              Try this!

                              http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/

it's a free anti virus and it scans your PC online.

"hijackthis" would work too   just type it in the search

Just a thought from a "lurker", could this be the problem from reply #20:  "firewall thru Windows Vista and Kaspersky" ?

if hijack this doesn't work try this  out! and for your question that you ask...
                                  songdongnigh, yes it could be

click on serach and type -MSconfig- click on the startup tab and disable all and click on the service tab and put a check mark on the box that says "hide all microsoft service"    uncheck the boxes that are there now  and restart the PC.

Note: if done wrong, you may have more problems.

just make sure there not Microsoft..  better yet let us know before you do it... meaning what programs are there after you  put a check mark on hide all microsoft service in the service tab

                                  good luck!

                                  Do you use two firewalls?

On a top of it, your computer is infected.

Here are the files you requested regarding the virus.  When we ran SAS it got stuck in a loop and just kept scanning the same files (over 4 hours).  We stopped it and ran it again and it did the same thing.  We ended it and saved it at the point it started repeating.  Hope we got all you needed.-
