Software-Windows XPpro Search Companion
« on: October 22, 2008, 03:59:27 AM »
Am using Windows XPpro Sp2.
Unable to use search facility. When I click on `Search for Files and Folders` I get a pop up box which states......
" A file that is required to run Search Companion cannot be found. You may need to run set up."
Where has it gone and how do I recover it?                                                     In response to Senthilvalli`s request for more info......
I clicked on Start>Search>`For files and folders` inthe pop out box. This brought up the above message ( the other options in the box all responded correctly).

Go to Start/Run and type in sfc /scannow and hit Enter...
Have your XP CD handy as you will be asked for it...
Let it run to completion...remove the CD and re-boot.
