Hope this is okay, I won't post it again if it's not, just really need to get this taken care of. It's a friend's computer I am using, so I want to make sure to keep it working.  :)

Ok I see whats going on now. WOW dont you just love people who screw up the net for eveyone. I would recommend myself reinstalling Windows if avalable if not. I would get a couple new programs. One is Called Spybot Search and Destoy. It will help you scan you system and files and eliminate and of the 'WAREs that has attached itself to you. The next thing i would suggest is dumping AVG and grabbing AVAST. It has a P2P scanner for all your music and files you download before it even saves them on your harddrive. Both are free to all who need them. If you have any other questions and need other help while im not here just drop me a line [email protected]..... its virus free :)

Thanks for your reply Antodne, I may get those programs, hopefully they don't take up too much room because not much is left. ALthough I have had both before on my computer and they didn't help much, still got the BOSD. I'm not downloading any music files anyway.

Once again, thanks for your reply, but I think I will wait for a reply from the CH people too.   :)

Monday 10/27 1:24pm update: Tried a system restore(check point 10/24) and now the boot directories are switched back to normal, with Windows XP Home first and Win Recovery Console second, boots like normal, but when I entered my user account the first time AVG had 4 components off again(Firewall, Email scanner, Web Shield and Update manager). It was at the restore point where I had to do the Windows security update installation(regarding 'remote access' threat), so reinstalled and restarted. It booted okay still and the AVG Update manager was on, other 3 still off.

Did restore again(10/21), booted okay and system restore says: Restoration Incomplete. Tried this for 3 more dates back, no more before the 17th due to low disk space I believe. So at this point it is booting okay, but AVG is still messed up and it is back to loading real slowly.

Perhaps I will remove AVG, then get another free security program. Anything good on the 'free' range besides Avast? This computer doesn't have much space and I think Avast would only make it run slower.
