    « on: October 31, 2008, 01:46:54 PM »
I cannot send my Pc into Standby Mode as the facility has been disabled. Every time I want a break I have to switch off. This has happened in the last few days. Can anyone please help? It is very frustrating !!!
    Many thanks,

    Desktop, or laptop?
If desktop, DO NOT use any power saving features. More pain, than any gain.

I have always used the Standby Facility and have had no problems. I am using a Desktop PC with Windows XP Pro installed. Whenever |I wanted a break from the PC I have always put it into Standby Mode. Now this facility has been disabled. So now each time I want a break I have to switch my PC off. I have also noticed that the Web Pages are larger than usual. Please help. it is sooooooo frustrating.

      Many thanks,

Without anymore information about what might have caused this problem (recent installs, downloads, hardware changes, ect...), I can only suggest trying a System Restore and restoring the computer to a few days before the problem.

You just simply confirmed what I previously said. Power saving options are not reliable features. Period.
