Try Vista CD in another computer (see, if you can boot with it).
    Run memtest.

      Yes, I can.
We have a total of three desktops at home with Vista installed. The problem unit belongs to my son. His brother has the identical Dell desktop unit here sharing the same desk. It is via this unit I am comunicating now with you.
I can try any method to try to fix it as you direct me to.

Did you disable Integrated NIC boot in BIOS?
      Did you run memtest?
Also, there are some hits on Google about "The amount of system memory has changed" error: http://www.google.com/search?q=The+amount+of+system+memory+has+changed&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

            Hopeful

Um... I have heard of several cases where people are unable to install Windows Vista from their disk because the disk drive in their PC is not a dvd reader. Is the disk drive in your pc a DVD reader?

About "Hard Disk Drive (Not installed)"...
Here is what it shows in Boot Sequence:

            (checked) 1. IDE CD-ROM device
                            2.  Hard Disk Drive (not installed)
                            3. Integrated NIC
                            4. Floppy device (not installed)

How OLD exactly is the Hard Drive?
