advice please

A friend of mine wants to reformat his computer, but he has lost the windows xp
disc that came with his computer when he bought it,he has the activation code which is still on the side of his computer.
Here's the question can i reformat his computer using my disc which is windows xp and his activation code.

Only if you and your friend have the same edition of Windows XP. Service pack is irrelevant.

Yup. Just make sure you use his number. Remember; one number per computer.
