Presario 5070 New Sound Card Help-can't disable...
« on: April 01, 2005, 06:44:50 AM »
This is a good one-
I have a Compaq Presario model 5070 with on board sound and can't seem to disable the on board sound so I can install an upgrade sound card.  Bios will let me change the irq address of the on board sound, but not disable it.  I've gone to device manager and disabled it there...it is "disabled" but my computer fails to recognize the new driver when it's installed.

OS= Windows 98 SE
280mb ram

ANyone know how to disable the on board sound at the motherboard?...or????

I'll try to find a diagram of my particular motherboard and see if I can locate the jumper.  (cross fingers)Thanks!

So far, NO go...I have my manual and have done some searches and can't figure out which of the 4 jumper blocks may control the on board sound, much less which position to put the jumpers in to disable it...this is going to be a frustrating problem to solve...but I NEVER give up.  Any ideas appreciated!
