    DirectX question
    « on: December 07, 2008, 04:54:10 PM »
hi all, im new here an seeking help from anyone :)

im tryin to get my wifes computer running to play a game called Rappelz, i get it installed, and everything good to go, once i click "start" it gives an error   "render create device error"  ive spoke with tech on their end and they told me to update my driver, which is up to date, they also told me to check my resolution and to make both windows and rappelz 60Hz which i also did.

so i opened up DXdiag to check an compare it to my pc (which runs rappelz perfectly) and everything is the same except for DirectX

    it shows up as:
    DirectDraw Acceleration
    Direct3D Acceleration
    AGP Texture Acceleration

all 3 are "not available"  where as mine say "Enabled"

did she install DirectX incorrectly? or could this problem be something else?
could someone give me a hand fixing this, any info will help me greatly :) thanks

Get directX from here and see if you can it would help fix the problem.

      http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displaylang=en

Doing this would get the latest version of DirectX compatible to your system.

And get the latest drivers for your adapter.

yes- from the sounds of it the video drivers aren't properly installed, or their OpenGL and DirectX capabilities have been disabled.

BC_Programmer: Yes indeed. Hence my suggestion up there  ;D

TiMes: let us know how it goes. I'd have thought the program you are attempting to run would tell you more of what's wrong but I guess not  :)

i think ive done just about everything i can to fix this problem im at the point where i wanna pull out my hair xD

im tryin to figure out how to see if i have my video correctly installed, since everyone im talkin to says that seems to be the problem, ive gone to the intel main page an did some test, using her pc of course, and it gives all the info about her pc and says that everything is installed correctly not sure if this will help but this is the display info from my wifes pc maybe it will give you guys a better understanding of what im dealing with here:

*** as you can see the bottom 7 are what i believe is the problem ***

also other online games seem to work such as starcraft, and diablo2 which use directX

Your video card (or in this case, onboard video) doesn't meet the minimum requirements:

              http://rappelz.gpotato.com/?m=downloads

An onboard Intel graphics adapter is crap.  You need a real card.

Also, I noticed this on your DXDIAG output:

              Display Memory: n/a

That usually means something disabled it.  NetMeeting is the most likely culprit.  Disable that and you'll get your video RAM back.

Part of the problem is most people don't generally deal with computer problems. So for most they think that close enough is good enough.
