My writer is recording too fast (16X) and I would like to slow it down, how do I go about it?  Thanks.

you should be able to slow it down in the option menu of whatever software you are using. I beleive burning speed is determined by burning software over hardware.
Everyone I know comes to me to fix their PC's. I tell 'em to quit touching it and it will work fine.

There is always an option in your software that allows you to choose what speed you burn at. The speed however should not make a difference on the info being burned. I burn all my music at the fastest available speed and no issues.

You may think there are no issues but when it comes to 100% data integrity its near impossible to get 99% matching data transfer, even at 2x. it's just what happens when you burn CD's.

Anyway, it may matter as if the topic starter is using the windows one, they need to set it in their driver properties rather than the burning wizard.

        You do this by:

        Open My computer
Right Click your Burner/Writer and select properties
On the recording tab it is by default set to "fastest"
change this to your new preferred value :)
