Back home my brother tried to uninstall Symantec Client Security from a desktop running XP, but was unable to find an easy way to do so. He followed a set of instructions online that had him make changes to the registry. Unfortunately, one of these changes messed something up, and now every time I right-click on an icon in a folder/desktop, an installation wizard for Symantec comes up. The right-click menu will not show up until I cancel the installation.
I've tried letting the installation continue, but it only freezes the task bar. I've also tried downloading Symantec Client Security and installing it again, but the wizard quits saying there was an error that did not allow it to finish and gives me no more information as the nature of the problem. Worst of all, this happened a couple of months ago, and my brother says he doesn't remember what instructions he followed online, so I don't even know what registry entries he changed
.
If anyone could let me know how I can stop the installer from booting every time I right click on an icon, I would be very grateful. I know this might be a tall order since I know little else about what caused the problem other than a faulty change in the registry. Any help is appreciated.
