    What will cause the computer to freeze

    What will cause the computer to freeze ?, This happens when I try to run roxio when recording music and surf the web at the same time . it happens all the time I thought that having a dual processor will cover this.
    I am running dual processor 2.0 with 8600 gt  n vidia 4 gig of memory 450 watt box power  975 bx mother board

    Cold Temperatures.... 8)
    But seriously when i do a burn it's normally late at night and i don't run the machine while i'm burning...
    No matter what horsepower you have in your machine it's best to not do anything while burning...just my advice...others may have different opinions.

    What will cause a computer to freeze? Many things.

    When did this problem start?
    Any recent downloads/installs/ect....?

      This started when I did the microsoft updates sp3, I have xp pro also my roxio 10 cuts off if I am doing any recording or copying . I had a problem watching movies because the video was grey but you guys helped me with that already, this sp3 really stinks I want to reformat my computer and get rid of this problem what do you guys suggest.

      I make an exception for Dual/quad core machines.
      I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

      Actually, back in the day, I had a CD-burner on my 486, and I'd run NESticle and play NES games while burning.

      Most of them turned out fine. Guess it depends on hardware/software.
      I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.
