    problems with computer
    « on: January 04, 2009, 03:52:08 PM »
My computer has been extremely slow--online and offline.  Everything is as slow as molasses.  I have windows xp, 5 gigabytes of free space.  I ran all of the suggested steps for malware and have attached the log.  I didn't have java at all, but with your directions downloaded it.  I did clean out a lot of stuff--I did notice that it has sped up--what was taking minutes to open up is taking like a minute--still slow.  thanks for your help

I don't see anything malicious.  You may want to download CCleaner (install without Yahoo! toolbar) and configure it according to this guide.

thanks cbmatt.  do you have any other ideas--since it looks like it is not a virus--also do you have any ideas about why I have to reboot my computer up to 4 times every time I login?

      Thanks appreciate you help

It could be a hardware problem or perhaps a corrupt/missing system file.  It's not really my area of expertise, though.  I would suggest heading over to the Windows section of our forum and seeing what they have to say about it.
