    Hi Everyone
    « on: January 07, 2009, 11:07:34 AM »
I have a malware issue that does not cause major damage but is very irritating and makes my computer virtually useless.

The functioning of the screen cursor/mouse is impacted. It seems that any single click works like a double click and with zero delay. Also during the first few seconds any mouse movement causes skips and breaks in the mouse movement when the left mouse button is held down. If I hold down the mouse button without any movement for a few seconds [not even the slightest] then mouse movements function correctly. As you can see this makes maneuvering the mouse around very difficult.

I mention all this because I have used what I believe to be the best virus checkers available [Kapersky, A-Squared Free, Prevx CSI, Avira, etc.. ] and none of them have found/cleaned this virus.

Thanks in advice for any help.

    John

First, make sure you have only ONE antivirus program.

Secondly, have you tried another mouse?

      Hi,

      1. I run various different malware programs but they are on demand scanners and I only run one at a time. The exception to this is Avira which is scheduled to run once a day late at night.

      2. Thanks for this tip. I am already ahead of you on this. It seems that when I switched my mouse with another the problem went away. It could be that for some reason the mouse is activating old mouse settings, not the deluxe Logitech mouse that has sophisticated settings. But something switched my settings then and that could have been some malware.

      Thanks for your reply.

It could also just be that the other mouse is dying.

I would try it on another computer and see if it still has this double-clicking problem.
